Press Release
Protect the children
It is one of the fundamental rights
of the people to initiate peaceful protest for the restoration
of their human rights & democracy. For last few days-Nepali
people are on the street for the same. But instead of listening
to the people, the government is using excess force to suppress
the protest. So far 4 people have been shot dead, hundreds
are insured & arrested and thousands are suffering from
the poisonous tear gas.
It is natural that
every happening in the society arouse curiosity to the children.
Out of their curiosity many children seem in the on going
protest also. In this connection, children too have become
the victim of the suppression of the security forces indiscriminately.
There are ample of evidences that innocent children are being
brutally beaten and harassed in Kathmandu. We are very much
concerned over the violation of child rights and would like
to remind that children are to be protected at any circumstances.
We strongly condemn
the whole act of security forces on the violation of human
rights & child rights in the name of so called "riot"
control. We demand for not to suppress the peaceful protest
and respect the human rights. We also demand not to use any
forces against the children at any excuse and to provide the
free and appropriate medication of the insured ones. At the
same time we would like to draw the attention of the protesters
to protect the children and discourage them not to come to
the demonstration.
